Fall Family Fun Day

Since it was the only day in the past week and a half without rain clouds, we decided to head up to Uncle John's Cider Mill for the afternoon. It didn't rain, but, brrrrr... it was cold. Maggie was very excited about this "roller coaster": the apple worm ride. She said "Wheeeeeeeeeee!" the entire time.

After dismissing many pumpkins as "yucky," Mags finally found the perfect one. She declared that she loved it.

Um, I think she enjoyed her cider and donut.

Here's another picture inside the cider mill. It may be all about U of M around here these days, but we girls don't turn our back on the MAC!

William is one!

For our little buddy William's first birthday on Thursday, Ray and Robin rented a 15-passenger van for a field trip! Friends Ryan, Stephanie and their 17-month old munchkin, Terrence, were here from Cali for the week. We all piled into the van and headed for Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek. The rain wouldn't let up, so we kept going to Kalamazoo, where our first stop was the Air Zoo. Maggie really liked piloting this little spaceship.
Our next destination was Crossroads Mall, where we rode the carousel and visited the Build-A-Bear Workshop. Mags picked out a Black Lab puppy and loved pushing the pedal at the stuffing station.
Back at home, the birthday boy demolished his cake.
Maggie was in love with her new friend, Terrence.

Livin' la vida Lola

We spent the day at the Whelan house to meet Stacy and Kevin's 4th girl, Lola, a 6-month old bassett hound. The swingset was a hit with Mags, and she loved having "Fophie" push her.
Lola played so hard that she dug herself a spot in the sandbox for a little siesta.
Maggie is officially bigger than Lucy (who's almost two years older)! They are BFFs, and they loved playing together all afternoon.
Maya loved the swings, too. She would have taken her nap in this swing if her mama hadn't whisked her inside. She looks like a California baby with her bleached blondness.

Maggie turns two!

We decked out the house Dora-style, per (what we think would be) Maggie's request. Artie's already on the prowl for birthday snacks, and you can see some of Maggie's haul on the right hand side. She got a really cool bear head puppet that, at first glance, makes you wonder where the rest of the bear is.

Maggie is holding what is left of her duck balloon animal between two of her cousins; Sophie on the left and Lucy on the right.

After the festivities, Maggie chilled out with some birthday cake and tea for one on her new picnic table. Soon after this was taken, she went down hard for a nap, and so did her parents.

Since Maggie's actual birthday was on a Tuesday we took her out to Red Robin for her sundae. She got to met Mr. Robin and got sung to by a chorus of servers who looked like they wouldn't miss it for the world. All in all, we had a fun birthday weekend.
